Four Faculty Recruitment Announcements
The Center for State Health Policy (CSHP) within the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research (IFH) is recruiting a faculty member with demonstrated ability to develop and lead a program of research that addresses critical population health and/or health care policy issues of relevance to New Jersey, other states, and the nation. The successful applicant(s) will be appointed as a non-tenure track faculty member at a rank commensurate with their experience.
The incumbent in this position will be expected both to respond to requests from New Jersey state agencies and other sponsors to meet specific research and evaluation needs and independently initiate new competitive funding proposals for policy-relevant research.
CSHP has a strong research infrastructure and the successful candidate will lead and mentor teams of data analysts and research staff to accomplish project goals. The candidate will also be expected to successfully collaborate with other faculty from CSHP, IFH and other units at Rutgers to advance the Center’s mission. Over time, the incumbent will be expected to assume a greater leadership role within the Center and Institute.
CSHP and IFH host rich data resources that will immediately be available to the incumbent. For example, the Center receives continuously updated, comprehensive NJ Medicaid claims which it links to homeless services, cancer registry and other state administrative data sets. CSHP and IFH also are launching a NJ-based cohort study that will include biomarker, actigraphy and interview data for diverse panel state residents, and IFH is home to a Survey/Data Core that includes longitudinal national Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance claims and other data.
Mid-career and senior applicants will be expected to have successfully developed and executed research projects and funding proposals. Early stage applicants who have demonstrated high potential to develop a funded research program during a post-doctoral fellowship or similar experiences will be considered.
Nominations and applications (letter of interest, full curriculum vitae, and contact information for at least four professional references) should be submitted via the Rutgers employment portal. Review of materials will begin immediately and continue until appointments are made.
An attractive recruitment package will include competitive compensation and research start-up funds.

Many opportunities exist for collaboration with significant existing lines of research on behavioral health including psychotropic oversight for foster care children, quality of care for persons with severe mental illness, psychotropic treatment in nursing homes, integrated behavioral health care, health system response to the opioid epidemic and other substance abuse and mental health topics.
Other areas of interest include comparative effectiveness research, access to care, quality of care, health disparities, integrated care for behavioral health and primary medical care, financing and organization of health care, chronic disease management and outcomes, health care reform, aging research, mixed methods and evaluation of health policy and delivery system initiatives through analyses of Medicare and Medicaid programs. The successful candidate will be jointly appointed in the Institute for Health with tenure-track or tenured appointment in an appropriate Rutgers school or department with teaching, clinical, and/or mentoring responsibilities. Opportunity exists for appointment as a Chancellor’s Scholar.
Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with scholarly achievements. Given the importance of the candidate’s ability to develop and lead a substantial program of externally funded research, preference would be for junior faculty with grant funding experience and mid-career to senior researchers with established grant funding records.
